It is 3 days to departure and we are ready to return to Raffaellesco. The Admiral is happy to be going back to Italy, but the temperatures, mid 40's at night and day time highs in the low 60s, have her a bit apprehensive. We are working through my check list and we are ahead of schedule. We will make our usual stop in Detroit, but only for about 18 hours. We are down to 1 smaller roll around duffle, 1 carry on sized roll around and our brief cases. It is simply easier and cheaper to buy the consumables, like filters and such, here in the US and carry them back. 

It has been a great 3 months in SoCal; lots of social events, holiday cheer and even a bit of skiing. We did return to Rascal and find a few issues that needed to be addressed, so we ended up changing out all of the hoses on the boat. They were 14 years old, so they were due. Only one sailing trip to the Island; it was a perfect weather weekend. Otherwise it has been cool and rainy in SoCal.

Saturday is Opening Day at the yacht club, so we will be busy helping with the food and Champagne! Sunday will be final packing and close up the Huntington Beach Home.

 June 6, 2025 – Lefkas Marina, Lefkada, Greece Another sunny morning with a light breeze but getting a little hotter each day. The humidity is very low, 35%, and the sky is clear making for a very hot day today. With no bimini the dodger was our only shade. We did leave the mooring and motored to the fuel dock where we were able to pump out our holding tanks. No more using the boat facility but the admiral arranged a hotel room here in the marina. We walked into town for one last trip to the laundry to wash sheets and towels. A good job to do in the hottest part of the day. Back on the boat they took no time to dry as we continued our other chores. This will likely be the cleanest and driest we have ever been able to put the boat away. Saturday is turnover day for the charter boats but most of them return to the marina on Friday afternoon. Some people pack and leave, others spend their last night on the boat.  Raffaellesco Spring ‘25   Huntington Beach, CA Winter ’24-‘25 It was a mild winter in HB, two rainstorms and some fog, otherwise sunny and temperate. We did a lot of work on Rascal; bottom paint, replaced the dripless packing and various other chores from the never-ending list. Aside from the trip to the Marina Shipyard for bottom paint, we only did one cruise with Shoreline Yacht Club. It was a fun weekend in Alamitos Bay visiting Seal Beach Yacht Club and Cerritos Bahia Yacht Club.  Today is a celebration of life for my friend Rich Darling. I wish I could be there to honor him. With out his belief in me I would not be where I am today. I have learned a lot from him and will always cherish the memories. I know he will rest in peace as he has touched the world in so many positive ways. May 20, 2025 – Adamantas, Milos, Greece A very calm night and a sunny calm morning. We were up and underway early only to discover that we had a “Check Engine” light on. We checked the Yanmar book, finding no serious issues listed for the Check Engine light. The vitals all looked good and there were no lose ground wires or connections. The decision was made to proceed. We motor sailed in favorable but light breezes and sunshine. The sea was calm with a tiny swell on our nose.
