1/27/2026 Huntington Beach, CA We spent the day in final preparation for leaving the house for 2 months. The Uber was scheduled and we would be on a red eye out of LAX. Except that at about 1700 the flight was canceled due to weather on the east coast. You know, the Polar Vortex etc. I had hoped that with a flight from LAX to Miami we would be safe from the weather but no luck. American Airlines provided a number to call to rebook the flight. Surprisingly a very helpful lady answered the phone quickly and we were rebooked on a red eye leaving 1/31. They had earlier flights but they did not look like they would arrive in Tortola in time to catch the last ferry to Virgin Gorda. Suzette was already making a list of chores to do over the next couple days. We had given away all our fresh food, we would need to get creative. 1/28-1/30 Huntington Beach, CA It turned out to be a good opportunity to do some of the small projects that we let fall off the very full platter.  1/13-1/31 Visit Home It was and uneventful trip home arriving to warm, low 70s, temperatures and sunny days. First order of business was to order the parts needed for Raffaellesco, in case there were long lead times. Amazon covered most of the items.  Checking on Rascal we were disappointed to find a lot of condensation and mildew in the lazarettes. This precipitated the removal of the contents to dry them out and a thorough cleaning of the lazarettes. We were able to celebrate a belated birthday with the Ferris' for our customary Sushi birthday dinner. Liz shares our same birthday, January 12th, and we love celebrating with Liz and John! All January 12 Birthdays! Saturday, we attended the BWCC induction of new officers at SYC. This was a brunch that was well received by the members in attendance. Suzette continues her role as Judge Advocate, and I will continue as Board of Trustees Representative. Monday to Friday we enjoyed a bit of winter in Sun Valley, our annual trip to ...

1/5/26-Trunk Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI Sunny calm morning for coffee and sun salutations. We departed early, 0830, heading for a more protected anchorage. As we were heading north, we saw Bezo’s toy box at anchor in the channel and his sailing yacht coming in from the west. We motored around the north end of Virgin Gorda and followed the markers into Gorda Sound. We dropped the hook in 35’ of murky water off of Prickly Pear Island near the Bitter End. Bezo's toy box Bezo's Kuru The wind had taken its toll on my American Flag but a stitch in time saves nine. I made like Betsy Ross and stitched up flag. Next on the list was to reaffix the Raffaellesco name plate on the dinghy, it had nearly come off completely. About the time my glue was on and setting up it decided to rain. I protected it as best I could by covering it with my body. The rain subsided enough for me to finish my repair, hope it holds. The rain was unpredicted and lasted most of the day, a good excuse to close the ...
